Peter Rise and Eat is what Peter dreamed as he was half asleep and waiting for dinner. I gotta laugh…he went up to pray on the roof and again he falls asleep.
God needs this guy to be asleep so he can communicate with him ….I can relate to you my brother Peter. So Peter dreams of the sheet with the unclean animals
Act 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
Act 10:14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
Act 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
Act 10:16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.
Act 10:17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean
Now who was it that told Peter those were unclean animals….you guessed it God. Now who is it that is telling him those have been made clean….you guessed it God. Just when you think you got God figured out he goes and changes the rules. Some Christians have just never caught on to that yet. Peter even had trouble with it too in his zeal for God. We all know that God was showing him the gentiles would come into the kingdom of God too. That was prophesied long ago by Hosea & Isaiah
Hosea 1:10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.
Isaiah 11:10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
So Peter did not yet understand the scriptures. If you told your Christian leaders today you had a dream and God showed you some verse in scripture that you think they did not understand they would send you out their door twice as quick as you came in. Yet God did this with Peter and that is OK
But then again God didn’t ask you if you could clear this with the leadership first he asked if you would believe what He said to you.
