Designed to Kill You

The Lord said yesterday to read Jeremiah but I was tired and didn’t want to read the weeping prophet. I wanted some thing upbeat and I thought that Jeremiah was too sad to lift me up. So when I opened e-sword today to the random verse it gave me this:

Jeremiah 42:9  Jeremiah said to them, “You sent me to plead your case humbly to the LORD. This is what the LORD God of Israel says:
42:10  Suppose you stay in this land. Then I will build you up and not tear you down. I will plant you and not uproot you. I will change my plans about the disaster I’ve brought on you.
42:11  Don’t be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you now fear. Don’t be afraid of him, declares the LORD. I’m with you. I will save you and rescue you from his power.
42:12  I will have compassion on you. I will make him have compassion on you and return you to your land.
42:13  “But suppose you say, ‘We won’t stay in this land,’ and you disobey the LORD your God.

Oh what good news. The Lord is trying so hard to get to me and listen. But I feel so weak that I can barely stand it anymore. I am like the guy drawing his last gasp of breath. I see nothing but the end of everything I have known. Oh what I would give to get out of this mess if only I knew how. Some times all the right things done don’t amount to squat unless God speaks directly to you about the situation.

No amount of knowledge can save you, only the hand of the Lord. It’s like some one who trained to be a survivalist and he read every book and practiced the actual scenarios. The instructor takes him and strips him naked and flies him over Antarctica and pushes him out of the plane with a parachute and tells him we will be back in a week to pick you up. No amount of training will help you survive that. You will freeze in less than 30 minutes and there is nothing to build a fire with. What good were all those books now, and all those so called training sessions?

The best to get down on your knees and call out to God soon as you hit the ground, you foolish man. There is a situation that is bigger than you can handle. It will kill you. It was designed to kill you. There is only one person to help now and it isn’t you. It is only God who can save. I need saved from this predicament. Thank you Lord for letting me see that. There is a time when it is beyond our scope, beyond our hope, and beyond our understanding. That is where God is God and we are but small men who need to cry out to Him and know that He is God.
